S.01 / Service

Mobile app development

We build mobile apps for founders and product teams: native iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin), or React Native and Flutter when one shared codebase fits better. Hiki for Android, our manga discovery app, is built in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose and live on Google Play. One team takes the app from architecture to the store and keeps improving it after launch.

01 / What you get

Native or cross-platform.

What every mobile app we take on comes with, from the first architecture decision to the App Store and Google Play.

Seen in Hiki

Native iOS and Android, for peak performance

Swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android, when the experience is performance-critical. Hiki for Android is native Kotlin with Jetpack Compose; its iOS app, in SwiftUI, is on the way.

Cross-platform

One shared codebase, native feel

React Native or Flutter when one shared codebase fits the product better.

Seen in Hiki

Everything from architecture to the store

One team designs, builds, releases and maintains the app. Hiki for Android shares the web app’s back end and Firebase project, and we publish it on Google Play ourselves.

02 / Technologies used

The stack we pick from.

Native or cross-platform, chosen per product. We pick the right tool for the job, not the trendiest one.

Hiki

We built Hiki for Android in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, on the same FastAPI back end and Firebase project as the web app: the catalog, Lists, the marketplace, the store map and push notifications.

04 / How an engagement runs

From brief to live.

We don’t do proofs of concept. We build the real thing from day one, with you in the loop.

  1. Step 01

    Days

    Discover

A short, focused discovery. We define the problem and the first release. Days, not months.

  2. Step 02

    Iterative

    Build

Design and engineering together. Working software from the start, with you in the loop.

  3. Step 03

    Release

    Launch

Deploy, test and release. The real product, in the hands of the people who need it.

  4. Step 04

    Ongoing

    Scale

Scale what works. Maintain, measure and improve as your product and team grow.

05 / FAQ

Before you book.

Anything else, ask us on the call. It takes 30 minutes and you leave with a clear next step.

Do you build native or cross-platform apps?

Both. Native iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) for performance-critical experiences; React Native or Flutter when one shared codebase fits better. We pick the right tool for the job, not the trendiest one.

Have you shipped a mobile app?

Yes. Hiki for Android, our manga discovery app, is live on Google Play: a native Kotlin app built with Jetpack Compose, on the same back end as the hiki.world web app. Its iOS app, in SwiftUI, is on the way.

Do you handle the App Store and Google Play release?

Yes. We cover everything from architecture to the store, as we did for Hiki for Android on Google Play. After launch we maintain, measure and improve the app as your product and team grow.

Who designs the app?

The team that builds it. UX and UI come from the same people who build, launch and maintain your product, so nothing gets lost in a handoff.

How does an engagement start?

With a 30-minute call. Bring the idea; we’ll tell you how we’d build it and what it takes. Book a slot in Calendly or write to hello@larch.ee.
